The Retreat at Jackson Arms Hideout on Caddo is exactly what you've been looking for to getaway from all the pressures of your day to day life. Click "Show More" below for details

Good to know

Why do you book a vacation? A getaway per se. Is it to remove yourself from the pressures you face on an hourly basis? Your work calls and meetings seem endless. So much so that you have a hard time completing your actual daily tasks. Kids get home and it's: Mom, where's my volleyball jersey? We are out of lunchables. Dad, the internet isn't working! Can you take me to Sam's birthday party? Although these things are part of life and most of them aren't bad, they tend to pick at your psyche like an out of tune banjo. Are you tired of being so so so......... BUSY? Your journey begins when you take that magical little mouse and click "Reserve" followed by "Confirm and pay". Two small steps that will have you well on your way to decompression. Have you noticed how much more focused you are the weeks leading up to a vacation? That wasn't your imagination. Your brain focuses on the things you need to complete prior to a getaway so that you'll have the opportunity to relax while you are gone. Remember that last vacation you went on and worked the whole time? Remember how miserable that was for you and your family? Vacations spark feelings of anticipation that lift people's well-being. According to science, employees who take breaks throughout the year are healthier and more productive. Vacations can improve mood, reduce exhaustion, increase productivity, and spark creativity. In Europe, it's mandatory that companies give all their employees a minimum of 4 weeks vacation (Holiday). There's a reason for that. The Retreat at Jackson Arms Hideout is just the sort of break you deserve. It's a super nice, cozy two bedroom cabin specifically intended for an undisturbed break from reality. As mentioned earlier, your journey starts when you book. However the real journey starts on your drive in. Excitement fills you as you get in the car to leave. A drive full of positive anticipation thinking of the magical memories you'll make. As you get close, you will feel as if you are going nowhere. Each turn feels like more nowhere than the nowhere before. Finally a curve opens up to a small hill that leads to an ancient cross tie bridge over a canal just off the Big Cypress Bayou. Thump thump thump as you slowly roll over. It's alot to take in the first time (in a good way). Your first thought being: "Will this bridge hold my car?" (Yes it will actually hold like 15 tons) That quickly turns into: "Wow, how have I never experienced this?!" Coming down the bridge, there are houses on each side of the road. Most on piers. Pine trees, oak trees and the magnificent cypress trees everywhere. The draping spanish moss on a curved road creates a feeling of teleporting to a new world. It's like stepping into the wardrobe and ending up in Narnia. The transformation feels rapid. But everything about this place feels far from rapid. It feels slow. Intentional. Tranquil. Meaningful. This is Caddo. A few back roads and bumps later, you pull up to The Retreat at Jackson Arms Hideout That's where we leave you. This is your time. Your moment. Your experience. Enjoy the little things. Experience the quiet. Feel the peace. Close all those open, nagging tabs in your brain and transform to the curious and imaginative kid you once were. Take every moment captive. It's time to create your own experience at The Retreat at Jackson Arms Hideout. *A Few Important Notes* - There is another cabin at Jackson Arms Hideout (The Haven). - Book The Haven: www.airbnb.com/h/jahhaven - Caddo water levels rise and fall due to several factors. Rain and Lake O The Pines water levels are two of those reasons. There may be a few instances throughout the year when cabins could be unreachable. If there is even a chance of this during your stay, we will let you know as soon as we know. Feel free to reach out prior to booking if you have any questions. - Bugs - They live here - it's the woods. - Boats - The water level at the dock tends to fluctuate from no water to 5 feet. There is a boat ramp less than a 5 minute drive from the property. - Please be mindful of your children or elderly guests. There are plenty of tripping hazards and the property is by a body of water. - There is some poison ivy if you get out of the landscaped areas. - Wildlife galore including the ones that slither. Watch where you walk.

Hi there! You guys weren’t lying, this place is truly a hidden gem. What a special place to wonder around, play with the canoes in the river, lake and canals. The nature sounds are so perfect. It’s like living in a big tropical zoo. Amazing. We’ve visited a lot of places around the world but we never thought that Texas and this house high on wooden poles would make it to our top5 best places (so far!)

Our family of 4 absolutely enjoyed our stay here! When you pull up and see this place the pictures dont do it justice it is SO peaceful and serene with so many beautiful trees. The inside has a modern feel and neat features and the design is gorgeous. Super comfortable couch & beds. The Kayaks that are avalible were a HUGE plus for us and made for a incredible experiance on the water plus my husband caught bass which he was thrilled about. The kids loved playing corn hole and it really catered to connecting and having a great getaway as a family! We also saw a deer right from the balcony just after dark. We really like the hosts and how everyone was super responsive, and attentive. We have nothing but good things to say and will certainly be back to enjoy more adventures!!

Wonderful spot with a dock to get right on the water. Great house with more things provided than I expected. Two kayak setups provided, but was easy to get my personal one down the dock. Co-host Amy was a big help and very good with the communication! Had a great time and when I go back hopefully it’s available again.

We communicated with Amy and she is a gem! She was extremely helpful from the first step to the last! We had several specific questions, as our daughter and her fiancè wanted to have a micro wedding at Caddo Lake. Amy helped with all answers and pointed us in all the right directions! We booked both houses and our party of 6 were very comfortable. Within 10 minutes of my arriving, the power went out. It stayed out over 4 hours. It. Was. Hot. Amy scrambled and had another house for myself and the bride and groom to go to so that they could get ready with electricity! Amy was even going to clean it herself! She is a 5 ⭐️ lady! Praise the Lord, the power came on as we were about to leave! The homes are beautiful. The scenery is amazing. The walkway is perfect, the kayaks are wonderful! We had a blessed time!

The wind over Caddo Lake moves as if it carries secrets—whispers waiting to be discovered. The retreat at Jackson Arms is the perfect place to be still enough to listen. The atmosphere is peaceful and inviting, with a home that’s well-stocked and thoughtfully prepared. Each morning, the birds greet you with a soft song that seems to float on the quiet air, setting the tone for a truly restful stay. The hosts were warm, communicative, and attentive—we felt more like guests at a friend’s home than travelers passing through. Their hospitality made it clear they genuinely cared about making our stay special. If you’re looking to take a deep breath, reconnect with friends, or simply soak in the beauty of nature, this is the place. Secluded enough to feel like a getaway, yet close enough to satisfy a candy craving or two—it’s the perfect balance of rest and ease.

Great location. Quiet area with Great views. The dock and kayaks were great, kept our 9 year old occupied the entire time. With the water level being a little high we were able to bring our bass boat to the dock for even easier access to the lake. The host was friendly and very responsive.

I loved my stay so much! The cabin was perfect! My favorite thing was having my morning coffee on the dock. The view was breathtaking! It was so peaceful! The little touches were great too! Like the snack dish, feminine products, coffee, etc. I will definitely be happy to book again!

We came down from Dallas for Birthday celebration and took my 9 year old grandson. He caught his 1st fish, it was a Catfish and we later caught Black Bass and Perch. The kayaks were an extra adventure for my husband and I as we never been in one. Of course my Grandson had done it before and and was very encouraging. We celebrated my Birthday by going on a Swamp tour with Captain Ron and dinner at The Big Pine Lodge restaurant. Captain Ron was very knowledgeable about the environment and the Catfish and Cornbread were delish! We will be back as we love Caddo Lake and The Retreat was a beautiful relaxing spot!
